New Phase Begins for C-470 & Quincy Roundabouts Project
The C-470 & Quincy Roundabout interchange improvement project in Jefferson County is making significant progress and has entered a new phase. Despite the traffic impacts, the project is on track and continues to make positive progress. This new phase of the project includes construction of new retaining walls and preparing foundations for traffic signals and light poles.
The project, which began in mid-May, aims to enhance traffic flow and safety by adding a single-lane roundabout with bypass lanes at the Quincy and C-470 northbound ramp intersection and a T-intersection with a traffic signal at the Quincy and C-470 southbound ramp intersection. Other improvements include increasing capacity, building retaining walls, and enhancing drainage systems.
Traffic on W. Quincy Ave. has been shifted to accommodate construction. Eastbound traffic is now directed to the north lane at the roundabout, while westbound traffic uses a new slip-through lane. This two-lane setup will remain until further notice as crews work on the south side of the new roundabout.
With Jefferson County schools back in session, drivers should be extra cautious inside the project limits, especially with the potential for sun glare in the early mornings. Stay informed on this project by visiting the CDOT project website for the latest safety and traffic updates.
